Computer switching on remotely

Hi all

I have upgraded both my daughters laptop and my own computer to windows 10.

My daughters I did a while ago and mine recently.

Since I have upgraded mine, it will switch on when you start my daughters laptop. It switches on just before the laptop gets to the desktop.

The only thing I can think would be connecting the two would be the network.

Any ideas of what this may be and how to sort it would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like wake-on-LAN is enabled. Check in your BIOS for wake-on-LAN and make sure it's disabled.

Thanks Borealis. I disabled it in windows instead and it seems to have worked. I don't know why it went for enabled as a default but hey ho. Thanks again.

Might be that when it upgraded to 10, some of the settings got wiped/altered.

You might want to scan the laptop for malware too.
