Computer System Lag/Static Noise

Recently when i've been playing games, watching videos and playing music my system has had a tendancy to lag for a second or two and I will get a horrible static type noise. Can anyone help with this as it is getting very annoying and making watching blu rays awful.

Hmm strange, what OS you running and have you a dedicated sound card? I kinda experience what you describe if I do something strangely intensive obviously this doesn't happen in games because I don't run anything but if I have tv software or music running it would freeze for a second and make some funny noise.

Annoying thing is I can't remember what I'm doing that triggers the video/audio freeze, it's not exactly a common thing so it may or may not be related but when it happens I'll get back to you ha

You haven't actually told us what your souncard is so guessing onboard? But the reason I ask is that it sounds like the Creative snap, crackle, pop issue.

Check that one of your hard drives aren't spinning down. Not sure why it is that even if the data isn't on the spun down drive Windows likes to spin it up anyway, causing a second or so delay.

Never had this in games but watching videos, playing music it happens sometimes.
