Just looking (for gf) into the next month or two to get a) a new PC and b) a new tv and then also put her ~200 dvds on to HDD.

Currently she has a Beko 28" CRT and a celeron laptop with a lcd 17" monitor so everything pretty much will be completely new. Just a few questions really;

a) If she gets a GFX with a HDMI and a DVI port on it does that mean she can view stuff ie games/movies on the lcd?

b) does the HDMI also carry audio as its from a GFX card and so no need any extra speakers?

c) Can she also run a second lcd screen for normal day to day use (a 17" lcd dvi screen she already has)?

d) how would the two screen set up work - ie ages ago i played with dual screen and you could have a copy or extended desktop is this still the case?

Cheers think thats about it at moment.

The HDMI on my lappy carries sound, not sure about on your card though, check the manual/google maybe?

1) Yes, though most graphics cards come with dual DVI these days. However, this is not a worry as most also come with a DVI to HDMI adapter.

2) So long as you set up the graphics card up right then most modern graphics cards will happily pass sound through the HDMI port to a TV. In my experience ATI cards have been easier to set up to do this. Just make sure you get one with a DVi to HDMI adapter in the packaging.

If you plan to play 1080p video on your TV at some point I suggest you go for something of the order of the HD 5570.

c) Aye, no issues.

d) Set it up in extended mode as this will just extend the desktop and will work with displays of different resolutions.
