Alright, so, last night, around 04:30 again, the computer came back on, this time i managed to do powercfg -lastwake, and i got this:
Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 1
Wake Source [0]
Type: Wake Timer
Owner: [PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Windows\System32\services.exe
Owner Supplied Reason: Windows will execute '\Microsoft\Windows\Media Center
\mcupdate_scheduled' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.

By the looks of things windows media center is looking for an update at 04:30...

You beat me to it. Yes i had this with windows 7. Go to scheduled tasks and then media center. For all tasks under this section, untick 'wake the computer to perform this task'

Aha! Thanks for this, it was set to 04:07 for some reason, stupid time.

Hopefully tonight we'll find out that all is good.

It annoyed the hell out of me for a week until i sat down and worked out what was going on. Couldn't understand it, thought the cat kept walking over my keyboard during the night or something :p

Stupid microsoft.
