Hello chaps, i'm looking to make a big upgrade to my computer this week.
At the moment i'm still running an amd 3000, asus a7n8x deluxe, 1.75gb pc 2700 ram and an nvidia 6800agp, a bit of a dinosaur.

So i've been having a look around and thought these parts should be ok.

Can anyone comment? My budget is around 7-800 including vat.
I already have a decent psu (seasonic m12 600w), but what i was wondering is whether my case would be big enough for the 8800gts? I have an antec p180.

I'm pondering a raptor, but not too sure, as i don't like noisy computers, so it would have to give a fairly large speed increase to justify it.

Also is the scythe ninja still one of the best and quietest at c2d overclocking?

Much obliged.

The build looks very good from what i can see. Your case will be fine for the 8800GTS. And from what others have posted, i believe the Scythe Ninja is one of the best after market coolers for C2D. I cant fully justify that, but from what i have heard they are very good.

P180 will be fine for 8800 GTS, I wouldn't bother with a raptor get a Seagate 7200.10 instead nearly as fast for a lot cheaper, also could get a 650 motherboard Asus PN5-E SLi which would save quite a bit which you could use to upgrade to a E6600, Ninja is still a good cooler but might aswell go for best which would prob be Tuniq Tower at moment if still got money to spare upgrade gts to gtx

Yes a GTS will fit fine.. but for a GTX you will need to remove the upper HDD bays ;)

I considered the raptor but decided to get a couple of seagate 320gb 7200.10's instead

Looks good tho I personally would not pay that much for a mobo.

Agreed, id go for a 650 based board if you want SLI or a DS3 if you dont :)

You could use the spare cash then to upgrade to an E6600 or an X-Fi :)

Grab a DS3 and just save the rest of the money tbh.

Also, FYI Ninjas are a total bitch to use with most 775 boards. I think you'll generally have an easier time with the Tuniq Tower, which is also an excellent cooler.

PS - Do not buy a Raptor. :)

Completely Agree, unless you're doing video editing or really enjoy blinking and missing the window's loading screen, they're a waste of money (although I've got 3x36.7's  )

Thanks for the replies, i think i'll go for the Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 instead as there doesn't seem to be many crucial differences betweed the two and use the spare cash for a 6600. Thanks for the tip about the tuniq, i think i'll change to that one also.

I may also get me a seagate 7200.10 320gb, quite the bargain at £61.
