Test the load at the socket.
Actually now that I think about it I need to see if the clamp meter I have will work for that...
Goddamit my Fluke T5-1000 will work BUT it can only read from one wire at a time. Which is really helpful when it comes to a mains cable to my computer.
Maybe I can get an old, short extension cable on the line and strip the outer sheath off the wires to get them separated enough to read from.
