Hi, turn my computer on this afternoon and after a few secs there was a pop noise and then a burning smell. so i quickly took out the power cable and a few secs later smoke was comimg out the top. I stripped my machine and put another psu in and it powered up. Great i thought! So i put my items back in but im getting no display by gfx card or onboard gfx......... ao is it my motherboard?? Every thing runs the cpu fan the lights are lit on the motherboard. Could th board still run but be knackered? My biggest worry is my ssd's. Any insight would be helpful.

Thank sean.

What motherboard and system spec are you using?

It might be worth trying a CMOS reset and check around the CPU socket for any burn marks from any MOSFET's

did you have a network set up? It might be possible to see if the pc is "alive" if it's visible on your network. Or put them in a sata usb caddy and see.

doesn't sound good re the hardware but very possible the harddrives are ok. There is still hope even if they appear to be corrupted. Testdisk has helped in the past.
