Hi there, im currently having a problem with me computer atm, when i switch the computer on the system will briefly try to go thru the boot process but after maybe a few seconds it will switch off and automatically try again, by looking at the check process the motherboard does will booting a red led will turn on indicating that there is a problem with the cpu.
My system was bought from Overclockers which comprised of a overclocked bundle which included a i5-760, Asus P7P55D-E and corsair xms memory. As above the computer tries to boot but fails at the cpu but after 5 or so attempts it will boot up and everything is fine for 5-10 mins and then it will crash and we restart with the fast crashes at the cpu check stage, the fact that it can boot up and operate for a small time indicates to me that the cpu is ok but there might be a problem with either my power supply which i might add is getting on abit or there is a problem with the power management on the motherboard.
I was told by my next door neighbor that we had a power surge the other night while i would have been sleeping so maybe this could be the cause but lets just say it didnt come from a reliable source so im still looking at all options, any help or insights would be greatly appreciated before i take this to a shop and getting ripped off for what might be a simple and cheap fix, regards.
P.S I live in Stoke, do overclockers have a maintenance shop?
