My pc wont start up at all. There seems to be power going to the mobo tho as the green light appears when its connected to the mains. I changed the psu with a spare one and it still does not work. Maybe its the mobo? if it is its the second one that has gone this year. Any ideas guys?

Get the system to the barebones...ie motheroboard, cpu, ram, and graphics card if you don't have onboard...Re-seat everything including the power, and try it then.

Could try doing it all out of the case also, Did you say you tried a different psu?

Try booting with just the Cpu and motherboard, see if it atleast turns on.

All the power cables are hooked up :? and this problem just occured one day after I shut it down, not after upgrading it or messing around with the connections ill check anyway

The power cable connecting to the mobo does not fit all the pins, it is like 2 pins smaller i think. but its the same on my bros pc and he hasnt got any problems

1, Remove all cables from motherboard
2, remove all components from motherboard, CPU, Ram etc..
3, reseat CPU, Heatsink / fan and ram
4, plug in power cables only.
5, start PC.

It will be a lot easier for us all to help you if you can list the FULL spec with as much detail as possible....especially PSU mate :)

yeah it didnt turn on at all. Also tried what deadman suggest and it still didnt turn on.

Specs
300watt psu (had it with the pc when i baught it quite old)
Asus A8V-VM 939 motherboard (new this year) my second mobo this year
Geforce 7600gt fairly new
Amd athalon processor (new this year)
1 gig ram, 2x 256 kingston and 1x geil value ram

You screw them into the backplate first so that when you put the motherboard on it does not touch any metal. If it does then there is a high chance of short circuiting the board.
