Concave c2d?

I do have a few pics, they're on the other pc at the moment, too lazy to copy across and upload

The chip isn't nice and shiny as I've seen others brag about

but it's flat as a pancake and has knocked down my temps significantly. Having never really lapped anything before, I wasn't sure how much copper I could rub off before I hit something vital.

I have another really weird problem, I'll post another thread as to not derail this one.

I received a concave C2D chip last week from a competitor and i've e-mailed them asking to RMA it because i get 55c idle - they accepted :confused:

If it idles at 55, presumably it'll be running out of spec when loaded, therefore faulty.

iv just lapped mine and the temperatures were noticeably better.
ive seen the max difference at idle of 6-7 c
this could have been a better thermal paste job too. but i eliev lapping has deffo helped me in this case !
