Hi,

I'm not far off being ready to order my new build:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,183.00 (includes shipping: £18.12)

However i'm a little concerned about the issues people have been running into with the 5700 xt and am considering playing it safe with a 2060 super, I know the performance isn't on par with the 5700 xt but is the stability worth it? or have the issues been ironed out?

I would be keeping it stock if that makes any difference with regard to the issues people have with the card.

What issues have you seen?

Drivers are still a bit flaky for some people, but I've never really seen anything more significant or show-stopping than that.

Lots of horror stories on reddit about bsods and games hard crashing though it could just be a vocal minority. Problem with that kind of thing is you only ever hear the worst of the worst, the people who have no issues are too busy gaming :D

Maybe i'm worrying over nothing, just want to cover all my bases before i take the plunge.

Well, you have two weeks to return it if you experience issues. These things are always massively overblown though. Paying the same (or more) for less performance based on internet scare stories isn't the way to go IMO.

Reddit is infested with idiots and trolls. If they're getting hard crashes and BSODs they probably just didn't DDU the drivers or do a fresh install of Windows. Not to say such issues don't exist, but everything is always much louder and more apocalyptic on Reddit.

Buy it, set up the system, test it, bench it. If it's fine then start tweaking the voltage and fan curves. If you start having problems then consider a return.

4 yr warranty on the new aorus model for Pre-order ;) though is a Beast at 3 slots ! But a good £70 difference in price

have a look at Gigabyte Gaming OC version, £409 so not to much more on OCUK, card runs at 190w vs MSI's 210w so should be a little better on the mid tier 650w unit

5700 XT are awesome cards and getting faster by the day as AMD cards always do with driver releases and AMD cards are generally better with console ports.

However if you want NVIDIA, forget the 2060 SUPER, get this instead:

@Gibbo you need to slap Palit a little bit and get them moving to 3 yr warranty

They have all being slapped, but it takes years for them to make changes, even if they are willing to do so. Sapphire and Powercolor prime examples, both were 2yr and 3yr was requested from about 6 years ago, they only updated like 1-2 years back, takes them years as being Asian they sometimes struggle with the European mentality that longer warranty makes us think the part is built to a higher quality, fact is quality is fine they just went with industry standard of 2yr whereas some partners are a bit smarter and use the warranty being longer to try and win more market share.

Thanks for the advice! Think ill stick with the 5700 XT. Is the sapphire pulse worth the bit extra over the MSI mech version?

Yes, the Pulse cooler is better, but the Mech is not bad, it got slammed in some reviews for being noisy but in all our use its much quieter and cooler than MBA card.

You have to bare in mind the shroud on the Pulse is plastic too, it makes it look cheap.

forgive me for all the questions, trying to squeeze as much as I can out of my budget. Will the case in my build provide enough airflow? considering i'm using stock cooling for now. And is the bronze coolermaster 650w adequate or should I be looking at a gold psu, or even a 700W?

Cases with glass/acrylic front panels tend to have awful airflow in general, as the fans are choked by only having small side vents to pull air through. Whether or not it'll be an actual problem or not is another matter. Whether you mind things running a bit warmer in exchange for the looks is your choice.

As for the PSU, it'll certainly be good enough for your build. You can always spend more of course, but the same goes for every aspect.

Didn't had a single issue with the 5700XT AE, since mid July when got it. I would advice stick away from Pulse, as is the one with most reported issues. (which are fixed)
The MECH you selected comes with great price also.

Several in here had issues with the 5700XT because used splitter power cables, underpowered PSUs or unrated cables.

Waiting it out for the Nitro+ on BF, I've heard of the odd issue here and there but nothing serious. It's not put me off buying, just waiting for the right deals!

There's been a classic reddit rant recently, where someone posted a huge, technical description of why the 5700Xt was crap, only to be told that he had a B450 board and shouldn't have enabled PCIe 4.0, as it wasn't supported on the board and newer BIOSes no longer had this option. i.e. His rant about the 5700XT was totally unfounded, but, boy, had he put a lot of effort in to it! If you'd read the post early on, you'd only take away that the OP had proved how bad the 5700XT was, whereas later on, the entire post was called out as being misinformation.
