normally tv screens and computer monitors have a different "default" reference level for black. i can't recall the exact numbers but say the black scale was -10 to 10 on a computer monitor, and a tv called it 0 to 10. When the default black level is sent out as 0 for as default from the 360, thats the lowest black on the TV monitor scale but its a midrange setting on a computer monitor, so it looks washed out and crappy. That setting lets you adjust for monitors with a different scale and stop it looked so washed out.
AS for the warranty sticker, depends how it looks, last i checked its pretty damn difficult to take off without simply cutting/ripping it. If its intact maybe it was refurb from MS after it previously had a problem, when they fix it they cut the normal one, fix it, then stick a fresh one on so its likely to look dodgey as the remnants of the original are probably there.
