Hi all,

still waiting for my DFI NF4 Ultra D and Corsair 1GB XMS4400 to arrive and have been reading up on some of the threads in here. I noticed a link to the DFI forums where many users have experienced issues with the above combination and frankly I'm now a little bit worried.

How many people on here are running Corsair and DFI combos? and what kind of issues have you run into (if any)? I'm now considering selling the memory I just bought and getting 2GB of OCZ...

Actually haven't heard anyone here with problems with this combination. I've used DFI/Corsair without problems for a long while.

If you ask me there's not a lot of evidence that Corsair has more trouble than any other manufacturer. These things just take on momentum...he said/she said stuff if you know what i mean. A LOT of people use Corsair so you just hear about it more.

maxx - let me know how you get on with your Corsair stuff mate.

Dirk, i understand what you're saying mate. But over at the DFI forums it's a pretty well documented fact that Corsair does not work well. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

:)

If you are running at stock speeds then you shouldn't have a problem. That is at least the opinion of Angry_games who is probably the foremost DFI board expert (on DFI-Street).

The foremost RAM expert, Sharp, however is unconvinced. But then again he is more into overclocking and what works for stock is not necessarily what works for that.

well i'm hoping to overclock. I want to hit at least 2.8ghz. If i have to sell this Ram and get value stuff then so be it. I'd rather not though.

If you are not happy, just return the RAM for a refund as soon as it arrives (don't open it) under the Distance Selling Regulations - see OcUK support section for info. :)

I bought the RAM off of Divine Wind from here so won't be able to do that unfortunately.

Not to worry though, I'm sure it'll all come together.

man from uncle - I haven't got the system set up yet but was just going to use the stock cooler for the time being. See how the overclocking goes and then upgrade to a Thermalright once heat starts to become an issue

Im still having a lot of trouble with my Ultra D so im going start looking for a different board from another manufacturer
Sorry to OP for going off topic -

What problems? Are you using the 623-3 BIOS - it's the best all rounder for stability etc. I found the ultra-d to be the best board I have ever owned, but does require tweaking.

Its just the standard genie bios but just getting 3 diagnostic leds showing and ive messed around with it for ages now and still wont get a display on my monitor :/ used 4 diff types of ram in diff slots - one at a time aswell but still the same problem...

Yea ive checked them all and all on defaults :/ looks like its gonna be a case of sending back the board and ordering another one, which is a shame : (

My housemate had exactly the same problem with his Ultra D last week when he bought it... I posted on the DFI board about it and at the same time there was someone else with the same problem on there.

The other persons was fixed by hot flashing the bios... but that didnt work for my housemates, so he had to RMA the board.

Looks like there might be a bad batch of Ultra Ds about at the moment.

... Also ive been using Corsair RAM in my Ultra D and never had any problems. The only time I had hassle was when the board was brand new and had some ancient bios on there that would fall over if I waved my ram near it. Flashed the bios and its been flawless ever since:)

I managed to fix it now im so happy lol. Nothing installed on it now but its booting into bios fine and rams running happily :)
