Concert dilemma: Postal Service or Massive Attack

Hear me out, just give it a thought.

Goto Portugal 28th Aug, come back on the 1st September.

Aug 29, 2024 - Aug 31,
Meo Kalorama Lisbon, Portugal

It's not a totally unreasonable thing to consider.

I've travelled abroad for a gig, it's a good time and a different experience.
This is the answer tbh - thanks for pointing it out

I've decided to see Massive Attack in Bristol, and am currently working on the Mrs to get tickets for Portugal instead. The bonus there is that if we go for the full festival I get to see MA a second time and also LCD Soundsytem and TPS. That right there is god tier festival material.

Wow, I didn't spot that MA and TPS are on the line up at that festival.

I'd be making that my priority, and the Bristol gig as a bonus.

I went last year because the lineup was incredibly strong.

It's a good festival. Fairly small, you can rock up in the afternoon and see all the big acts. Explore Lisbon in the morning.

It gets incredibly dusty though, I guess they hadn't had much rain when we went so the soil was dry as a bone. I had to have a shower back at the hotel at 3 a.m. to get the dust off.

I have a dilemma for next year that I can't decide on. I have tickets to see The Postal Service in London and Massive Attack in Bristol. The problem is, out of the 365 days in a year, they're both on the same night.

Both hold a special place for me. TPS's Give Up is my favourite album of all time, whereas Massive Attack are my favourite band of all time (with Mezzanine being just behind Give Up).

TPS:

- Never tour, likely won't be back to UK.
- Only one album, so likely shorter set.
- Get to see Death Cab for Cutie.
- London means a hotel and extra travel, but also an extra night out for me and the Mrs.

MA:

- Getting on, likely won't tour much longer.
- Homecoming gig and more material, likely play a longer set.
- Have friends going, and can stay at their place, so cheaper.
- Much prefer Bristol as a city (friendlier).

Everyone I know is siding with Massive Attack because they're much more popular over here, but I honestly can't decide. Is there anyone here who likes or has seen both who can help me out?

This is a dilemma I never expected or wanted.
Have you seen Massive Attack before? Their live sets are ace. Do you know if Horace Andy is with them? Who they have as female vocalist?

I would go MA every time personally.
