Condemned

Bit short, but great game :)

Think it's out this month for £7.99 - £9.99, well worth it IMO

I thought it was ok but nothing special. The first few levels were pretty good but it soon got very repetitive and some of the later levels, especially the last, were dull. IMO, worth a tenner but nothing more.

Fantastic game imho. Some people say its boring and repetitive but I don't think they actually got the point of the game as it's supposed to be like an endless nightmare.

I played and finished it on the 360 and it was a LOT of fun!

It scared me a bit actually but for a different reason, instead of creeping around the levels just waiting for the next BOO (a la Doom 3) I found myself charging round like a mad-man with a piece of 2x4 in absolute hysterix caving in people's faces. Lots of fun but worried me slightly :D

i enjoyed it although it was a bit too easy IMO, also if you look at the extras, the artwork and videos, it looks like it was dumbed down a lot.

there are a lot of interesting ideas in the developer demos they showed however, in the final game it was reduced to very simplistic click once thats it. guess product of developing with the Xbox. If i recall look at DNA sampler thingy.

atmosphere was great, it was very well done but i was slightly let down as there so much more they could have done and I got the impression the developers had similar ideas as well but didnt implement them.

I agree with omi, I think they could have developed the investigative and forensic side of things a lot more and added more puzzles without destroying the atmosphere.

I also felt the game was very similiar to max payne in the way it portrayed the criminal underworld and the gritty nastiness that comes with it.

Haven't played it on the PC but the Xbox360 version (which is assume is exactly the same) was brilliant.

Played the demo and I gotta say this one creepy game, also seems pretty demanding from the looks of things anyways, should be here in the next 2 days :)

Couldn't get it to run on my system at all tbh - never did find anyone else online that had the same trouble, very odd!

Very good game like everyone else has said.

Ran the game on full settings on everything with this spec:

3500 64bit AMD
6800GT 128mb (AGP)
3Gb DDR1

It made me turn my PC off more than once with sheer fright. Under-rated and lots of fun - there are parts in this game that I wince just thinking about (department store dummies and creaking floorboards when in the basement are particular "think nice thoughts, think nice thoughts" moments ;)).

i had to love it when you could hear people walking above you and when they'd scream when you enter a room "**** him up!!" you'd just hear that shouted in some corner you couldnt see and they'd just turn from behind a book case and lamp you with a gas pipe.

Decided to give this a bash while waiting for my gfx card RMA:

+Looks pretty decent for the age of the game thanks to FEAR engine
+Good performance even on my old GTX280
+A few freaky moments such as when you zoom in the camera (normally a 'safe' time) for a closeup on a body and then it turns out it isn't dead and leaps out at you!
+Limited ammo forces you to make use of different weapons
+Something a bit different from most games, it plays out a bit like an interactive movie (reminds me of Heavy Rain a bit)

-Doesn't really give enough info as to why there are all these loonies roaming around trying to kill you
-Generally a bit too easy on normal difficulty
-Very easy to miss opportunities to perform a special action during fights, I missed quite a few chances to do it on the final boss
-FBI are underutilised
-A lot of plot holes that need tidying up considering the sequel hasn't been released on PC
-Evidence gathering is very contrived, doesn't really involve any skill and slows the game down a bit. The trails in the house in Chapter 9 were done well, to be fair.
-A bit too linear perhaps, it felt like the sort of game that could have had a few decision points thrown in (which route to take, who to ally with, choosing whether to kill/save people etc).

Overall I'd say it is OK if you fancy something a bit different from standard shooter fare, but certainly not in the same class as FEAR and is maybe a little overrated (I see it recommended on here from time to time).
