Condenser or Vented Tumble Dryer?

from what i keep getting told by my other half, vented is best.

Why? because she said so! (i dont know, sorry, but I know i will be buying vented). She must have her reasons.

Don't quote me on this but I have a hunch that if you have an outlet then a vented tumble dryer is better because a condenser one shrinks your clothes or something. I do'nt know why I have that idea in my head...but hum..ho...

A Vented one takes up less room for a given drum siez iirc, as it doesnt have to deal with condensing the steam and draining it. Vented just pumps it out of a hole in your wall.

Bought a condenser a few months ago - works like a dream and haven't shrunk anything yet. Turning clothes from dirty and dry to clean and dry within three hours still feels like some sort of witchcraft to me.

A condenser is SO much more convenient as you don't have to have a tube hanging out of an open door/window.

My personal choice, have one and it does the job!

Neither, get one of these:

And stop wasting your money on gadgets :)

Having used both i'd say condenser is better - one thing to watch out for though is that the bottle has some kind of neck leading to the opening.

One I used while staying at a friends house for a while didn't, just had a hole in the top of the bottle which obviously meant that when it was full you ended up spilling some on the floor while you were sliding it out of the machine to be emptied.

Those things take for ever! And are only good if you have a nice place to put them, otherwise they just pick up bad smells.

You've not lived till you've had a tumble dryer :p

I don't have one at the minute, its rubbish not knowing if stuff is going to be dry in time for when you need it.

Condenser :D I've got one that's so big you can climb inside and dry yourself nicely after coming out of the shower :D Not had to buy any towels in ages :p

If you haven't got time to dry them you washed them too late, if your house smells stop cooking chips ;)

A dryer lets you have one washing day, instead of having to spread it out over the week to ensure you have enough places to hang things.

Also, if you hang things up while they're still hot from the dryer then they'll generally not need ironing (you can also put dry clothes in the dryer for 10 mins before putting them on to save ironing) :)

Didn't even realise that there were different types of tumble dryer? I'd assumed they all use the tube?

I've always just cut a hole through the wall and attached the vent to that....never had any misting problems?

Only have enough clothes to require one wash a week. Ironing? Wear them a bit and the creases fall out anyway :)

Dryers are womens things, for women who wash everything after wearing it for 5 mins and do silly things like wash curtains (I mean, why?).

On topic though, condensor for pities sake, vented is fine if you install it properly (hole in wall) but imagine sitting outside with a beer while the clothes are washing - they stink the place out!
