I have a netgear N300 Router with a built in ADSL Modem.

I am trying to figure out how to configure it to do the following.

I want to plug my internet connection via an ethernet port into the back of it, and it act as a DHCP server, it will be given an IP address by the router that's giving it the internet connection. It should then share this internet to clients and give clients an IP address (192.168.0.xxx) rather than an ip address from the router that's giving internet access.

You'll almost certainly need a router with an Ethernet WAN port.

With an ADSL router your only connection option would LAN-to-LAN, and that isn't going to allow you to do what you describe.

If the netgear has an ethernet WAN port, yes, if its a model with just 4 x LAN Ethernet ports that cant be configured as a WAN port, and an RJ11 port, then you you wont be able to do this.
