That seems a bit expensive even without any discount. Discs and pads are £299 for the 530d and you only need to do the discs roughly every second set of pads. Discs are replaced purely on condition and minimum thickness.

As the E60 isn't included in the BMW 'Value Service' plan then sadly there is no fixed price for discs and pads on an E60 - its down to the individual dealer what they charge :(

I have a quote right here, for new discs and pads on the E39 I had, from Sytner BMW under their older car discount scheme, for the front pads, discs and sensors they wanted £297.52 and for the same at the rear they wanted £242.40

I had all of them done with OE BMW parts at an indy for a lot less than that though (brakes are brakes, anyone can change them tbh) ..I forget the exact figure, I'd have to go digging through my old BMW thread to find it. Put it this way though, it was under £400 for the lot, a total brake renewal.

Edit: £386 to be exact.

Didnt think of that. Seems that the price was indeed very good that DannyDan got them done for. I just phoned my dealer and the front pad change alone is £326 and discs and pads they want £582.

When I say I've always done discs and pads together it was on my old Corolla and Laguna and I did the work myself so it wasn't that expensive.

I'm not really prepared to do that on the E60 so I'll take it in for its service and tell them and see whether they just do the pads or both.

I'm hoping Snows BMW don't want £326 for just changing the pads though.

Just changed the discs and pads on my 320d today £40 for the pair and £25 for pads (pagid) courtesy of mr euro car parts.

IIRC 530d pads/discs are a bit more expensive than 525d ones. However, I think the original price I got was £4xx, minus their 10% parts / 15% labour discount for 4+ cars, then I told them I'd go elsewhere if they couldn't get it closer to a quote I had from a local indy.

The final price was 125+vat for discs, 58+vat for pads, 15+vat for sensors, 74+vat for labour and a 15+vat standard scope charge.

Well I pulled away this morning and the message had gone. Went into status and the rear pads are now reading 6k left which probably explains it. Doesn't help with the squeal at the front though.

I've booked it in for a service now so we'll see what the BMW boys have to say.
