Confused about sizes

Im looking for a fill port

This is the tube I have
Masterkleer Hose Pack PVC 15,9/11mm (7/16ID) Clear 3.3m

This is the pump I have
OcUK Tech Lab - D5 Vario Pump & Alphacool Clear HF D5 Top Value Combo

Choice of fillports on a competitors site since I cant find any here...
Fillport for 3/8
Fillport for 1/2
Fillport for 1/4

Same deal with T-Lines, cant find any here... and the sizes are as above

I would presume I am looking for 7/16 size.. but that's not there, are one of these compatable even though the fractions are not equal?
 
Im doing it for aesthetics as well as utility... if I do it... Im gonna drill a hole in the top of the case that will be visible; flush nickel embedded into the case
 
Only reason you'd need a T line is if you don't have a res? Is this the case? Assuming it is, and you are interested in asthetics, then the best would probably be one of those black delrin T blocks which you can attach your own fittings to. Then in theory you can use whatever size fitting/tube you like for the fill port line, though as said 1/2" barbs will suit your existing tube.
 
I have a res... its an EK "advanced" tube res... I had planned on simply attaching a funnel (via tube) to one of the additional (it has 7 in total I think) holes and pouring in the liquid as the pump picks up the initial amount in the res

that said I have not yet read much on how to initially fill the loop... I was reading my first "how to" when I came acrross all info on fill ports and T-Lines.. Im not sure what a t-line is exaclty, but I presume its got something to do with adding a t shaped connection with two of the holes connected to the loop and third hole with a plug in it which can be used to feed additional liquid? If this is true.. why then is it advised that it is at the bottom of the loop? For flushing?
 
I guess there is some confusion over the use of the word "T line". When I was beginning water cooling almost all, if not all references to "T lines" were for filling purposes with either a fill port on the end or a bung. The vertical length of tube going off the Tee acts as a res of sorts to collect bleed air. In retrospect it is equally valid to refer to a drain line as a "T line" as the princicple is exactly the same, i.e. a third leg coming off the main line with avalve or bung on the end. The "bottom of the loop" reference suggest they are talking about using the T fittings as a drain line, which is best to be at he lowest point of the loop.

Options for loop draining is an important consideration when planning a loop, as you don't want to come to a point 12 months down the line and think how the gently caress am I going to drain this thing? You can use a dedicated drain line as above or pull a fitting, which ever is easier or looks best. Me personally I have gone without a drain line and intend to pull a tube off .

I have a tube res and don't bother will a permanent fill line, just put a temporary fitting in the top of the res with a tube and funnel. The advantages of this are you can tilt the case about whilst filling and keep the end of the fill tube upright at all times, whereas you couldn't do this with a permanent fill port. After filling I put one of the blanking plugs in the spare port.
 
ok good the way I was envisaging doing it seems to be the way you do it... my understanding is I will fill the reservoir.. turn on the pump, wait for the liquid to move out, wait for any air to come back, fill it more, turn on pump, wait for air

rinse, repeat

Yes this is the way to do it, although you won't have to "wait" very long, the res will empty in seconds at the very most. You basically have to blip the pump until there is enough water in the system to ensure the pump doesn't run dry. At that stage you fill the res to the top and tilt the case about. During this you may get a big glob of air coming back usually from the rad which will cause the level in the res to drop but since you filled it top the top it shouldn't have dropped so much that the pump runs dry. Keep tilting/filling until all air is gone.
