Confused over Source SDK Mods

I made a thread about a year ago where I was trying to decide between buying Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead, because I wanted to play Zombie Panic Source. Well, the outcome of that thread was me buying Team Fortress 2 (a few weeks before it eventually went free to play) and I happily downloaded Zombie Panic Source from Steam.

Now, however, when I go to the steam page for the mod (through the steam program, with my account logged in) it doesn't give me an Install button for the game because I don't own a "Source SDK" game. Well, I'm pretty sure when I paid £14.99 for TF2, I was buying the Source SDK, and my steam profile has Zombie Panic Source on the played list.

Any ideas?

I think TF2 no longer counts as it's F2P, which is decidedly crappy. And it seems they don't differentiate between people that bought the game before F2P or after in terms of Source SDK usage.

This game requires that you own a Source engine game such as Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, or Day of Defeat: Source. Click here for a full list of games that meet this requirement. Please note that Portal: First Slice and the bundled Half-Life 2: Deathmatch do not fulfill this requirement.

I think the cheapest Source game is a standalone copy of HL2:D, though it might not work given the above. Definitely sucks a bit.

That's ridiculous if true. I bought it when it was an SDK game, for the sole purpose of playing mods. I'll have to contact Steam and complain :(

Tbh, if you get no-where with that, go straight to Gabe Newell. At the minimum, I'm sure he'd sort you out with a free game that will give you the SDK.

If not, I'm sure half of OcUK has spare giftable copies of HL2 floating around from all the times they've re-bought it in various forms!
