Confused!

It's simpler than fitting an IDE drive. Data cable goes from the motherboard to the drive and the power cable comes from the PSU. Job done, no messing with jumpers like the bad old days.

The only tricky thing to remember is that a new drive will be blank so will need to be partitioned and formatted using the Windows disk management tool before it can be used.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Ive managed to connect it to the power supply..but I cant quite see the port to connect it to the motherboard.

The drive should have 2, maybe three connectors on the back edge. The optional one is a 4 pin power supply at the right hand side.......

EDIT: Scratch that, I'm talking bullpoop. Just checked a spare drive and I had the connectors round the wrong way. There should be a pair of L shaped connectors at the left hand side, the larger left hand one is the power connector (use this or the 4 pin molex but not both). Immediately to the right of the SATA power connection there should be a smaller, similar connector for the SATA data cable.

Haha..basically I have two cables coming out from the back of the hard drive. One is going to the power supply and the other..I cant find the port on the motherboard.

The SATA connectors are the purple and orange things at the front left - use one of the orange ones, they're less hassle to deal with.

Thats what I was thinking but none of them fit. Do you have a picture of what it looks like? I may have misplaced it.

The back of the drive will have 2 connectors. One which is the power, which you have in, and the other one is the sata (The one on the left of the pic fits into that). You should have a cable with the SATA connector on both ends (Identical to each other). The cable you have pictured is for ExternalSATA and is designed for outside the case.
You should have gotten a couple with the motherboard.

The cable you posted is for external SATA (ESATA) you need the the red cables which have the same connector both ends.

Ah thanks for the help, they were orange cables I threw to the side lol..now I just need to figure out why my computer isn't turning on. I hate building these things :p
