Hi folks, perhaps one of you clever boffins can explain why this is happening, basically I have a G0 Q6600 on an old P965 Gigabyte DS4, about 18 months ago I could run it day in/day out at 3.3ghz on just over 1.35vcore and +0.3v on the ram.
I used the machine for work for a while afterwards and have only recently taken it back for gaming, so I stuck in the settings I'd always used and started priming it, it froze instantly, tried voltages up to 1.4v on the core and the same result, I even flashed back to a bios that I knew would overclock with no problems, same result.
Tried again this morning and upped the voltage to 1.45v and 0.275v on the ram and so far it seems stable, why would this happen? Is it normal for CPU's to require more voltage as they age? Seems a bit odd if that's the case, I'm confused!
