3500 XP, and games seem to play fine so I guess I was griping about nothing. Far Cry is definitely faster than my 7800 GTX 512 MB. I will put the FX-55 in tomorrow but I think I will have to order a 4xxx XP x2 tomorrow ;)!

Cheers for your help all the same ... and have a great weekend!

Hi,

I just downloaded 3dmark 06 but the setup program is asking for a password to unzip and install.

Have I downloaded the wrong version?

thanks

Raja - If you downloaded from say guru3d, go back to the site, as it mentioned the zip password. I got it from there, and did the same as you. Then I checked again and noticed they mention a password.

This might be quicker than downloading it all again. I think the password was just before you have to click the "i agree" kind of terms and conditions bit.

Hope you see this in time ;-) (HTH)

Hi,

I got 3d mark06 up and running, cards are overclocked, 4800 cpu remains unclocked. I got around 8300 in crossfire with 1900xt.

I suppose these marks ar reasonable, but even with these cards the 3d tests frame rate drops to 18 at a certain point. I think graphics cards are coming out so quickly, there really isn't a quantum leap in perfomance between models. Developers are not forced to optimise software to get the maximum performance from the hardware, as there is always a new product on the horizon. I remember how much they squeezed out of the playstation after a few years.

Thanks
Raja
