Connect a wired Xbox 360™ controller to your PlayStation3™ console

oh ok fair enough then, I do indeed have a wireless dongle for pc and I didn't actually try to use it with only the cable plugged in, just assumed it worked when it installed the driver.

Whats so uncomfortable about the PS3 controller??

I hear people on here moaning about it all the time. I have one and have had no issues with it being uncomfortable, throughout the PS1, PS2 and PS3.

What gives?

They're too small for people with big hands, the analogue sticks are uncomfortable and far too sensitive. The triggers are awkward to press.

Sony persist with an outdated design, that was in fact a bodge job to begin with (the analogue sticks were tacked on to the original PS pad in response to the N64).

I understand that the design is iconic, but they really should have gone with something new with the PS3. It was only ever a good pad because everything else was crap in comparison, and then despite stuff like the Xbox, Dreamcast and Gamecube all advancing the concept of analogue controls, Sony stood still.

It installs the driver but it doesn't allow you to use the 360 pad with windows without a wireless dongle as the cable carries no data.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

It works on the 360 though, Ive used the controller with no battery in, using the play and charge kit and it works fine

Think its still just providing power to the controller though as opposed to sending data down the wire.

Also cant say ive had many issues with the PS3 controller. The DS3 is a hell of a lot better than the Sixaxis. Id consider how I was holding it tbh if its actually that bad I cant play the console. lol.

I'd agree. I've never had hand cramp for extended periods of time with either controller.

if the analogue sticks were in the same place as the 360 it wouldnt be as bad tbh, but im used to it now and can play quite happily, i do prefer the weight of the 360 pad though.

Like I've said before on here, the PS3 controllers are one of the few things left that are stopping getting one, the controllers make my hands hurt after only a short while.

This is very tempting.....

No data is sent down the play & charge cable. It's still working wirelessly when charging.

He means plugging the play and charge into the 360 and then plugging the play and charge into a 360 controller without a battery pack.

Works for me. Was quite surprised really cause it makes it easier than getting a second rechargeable battery pack. Obviously it makes it a glorified wired controller though.

Hell it was never an amazing design in the first place; it's simply a ripped off Snes controller with 'wings' added; which isn't unsurprising as the PS was originally intended as a SNES 32bit addon, like Segas 32X CD drive. Sit them next to each other and its almost depressing how uninventive sony was with the original PS controller.

You would have thought Datel or some company would have spotted a gap in the market and made a 360 like joypad for the PS3
