Well first off, do you get a red light through the cable? have you tried a different cable?

Page 36 is what you want for the Pioneer, otherwise look at the PC.

I found the problem, there was a hidden menu on the remote, gave an optical \coax choice.....Have been drilling brackets and leading wires all day....worthwhile :).
