Connect two routers wirelessly

Well I currently have O2's stock router but I will be buying a new Wireless N one soon. With my WPN311 Network Adapter I get 3 bars strength on windows, I can still download and everything and gaming is perfectly fine.

Home plugs cost twice as much as using a bridge.
and for using a USB adapter, I'm using Mac OS X on my pc as well and I don't want the internet to stop working if there aren't any drivers for the usb.

So I figured an ethernet to wireless bridge will be better.

cost times two NO way, 85mbs units are 30 a pair new

I don't care "why" you are doing it, it's wrong. So it isn't good advice regardless of how much of a **** you think I'm being.

I don't doubt that your knowledge of such things is better than mine, but I'd really appreciate it if you could explain why it's wrong.

The spare router that I have is WDS enabled and has the repeater function so why wouldn't it be an OK solution to extend the coverage of my wifi network, so that I get a signal at the bottom of my garden? It works well so I don't see the problem.

I wonder if you have your wires crossed as I was replying to the OP's comment that he wanted to increase the coverage of his wifi network. I wasn't suggesting that he should use a router instead of an adapter or home plugs.

if you use WDS (as recommended in this thread), note that your bandwidth is cut in half. and I can't see why you'd do that here? WDS is for:

wireless client <-wifi-> wireless repeater <-wifi-> access point.

what OP has is pc <-cat5-> ??? <-wifi-> access point

Well atm I have PC<-->WIRELESS ADAPTER <-->WIFI <-->ROUTER/ACCESS POINT

What I want to do, and what I am going to do now (since I've bought the bridge)

PC <-CAT5-> BRIDGE <-> WIFI <-> ROUTER/ACCESS POINT

Oh and a little info, I have been gaming on a wireless connection since day one, even on the ps3 etc. there's not been one problem, gaming online with my wifi has been the same with a cable.

So with this bridge I doubt I will see any decrease in performance, if anything it could give me better performance.

When I receive the unit, most probably Wednesday or Thursday, I'll leave some feedback about it.

OK received the unit today and it was a heck of a lot smaller than I thought it would be.

Installation

Installation was very straightforward, connect a laptop or if you already have a system connected to your router then connect the bridge to the router.

Run the setup, all I was doing was clicking next and it was sorting everything out for me which was great.

After about 5 minutes my bridge was ready to connect to my system upstairs.

I done so and it is working great.

I will be removing my wireless card from my system tomorrow and whilst that, I can give this bridge a test drive.

Performance

Tested on speedtest.net, and received the same latency I had when using my wireless PCI Card, also the speeds.....The exact same and how much I should be getting as well.

I have tried playing DiRT 2 Online and there were no problems at all, worked right out the box just how I wanted with the latest firmware already loaded.
