ics ?
i had to do mine a similar way and didnt have any trouble what so ever just plugged it in to pc bridged the connection and was live so i dont get why his i.p address is failing he's got the right cable aswell thats the only prob i had was the cable you get given is a crossover rj45 and you need a standard going from 360 to pc .

You need crossover to connect the 360 to PC though I thought.

nah the cable it comes with is a crossover cable so u can plug it straight iunto a router i stole standard ethernet networking cable from work and works fine .

Try it with the crossover cable, as I'm pretty sure that's what you need for it connecting between two machines, if you were connecting through a router, then you'd just use normal patch.

Davey mate your spot on:

1. If your directly connecting one PC/xbox/xbox 360 etc to another PC/xbox/xbox 360 etc then you need a crossover cable
2. If your connecting via a router, hub, switch etc you need a normal patch cable

:)

100% sure you dont as i said stole mine from work and its not crossover and that works fine with 360 and pc but when tried connecting pc to my laptop didnt wanna no so had to buy a crossova cable for that .

What, the cable that comes with the 360 is crossover? News to me that. Also I'm pretty sure that crossover is used to connect to ethernet to ethernet based machines without a hub/switch or router.
