I've nearly finished putting together an HTPC for gaming and DVD playback. I'm gonna be using an ati card with the DVI>HDMI dongle for upscaling (if needed) and bluray. Also, me son needs to play his games as well, and we want to watch/record tv proggies. I'm assuming the games and tv will seen via a vga cable, and the dvd playback will go through the hdmi cable. I assume that whatever source is being used, the appropriate input is selected on the tv by the user? :)
Sorry, noob question I know

i think what you say is correct. i have 2 pc's and i have them connected to 1 monitor via dvi and vga, and i choose the source on the lcd panel. i think its that strait forward with your setup too. the only difference with me is that my 2 sources are separate, yours are on of the same. should not matter to the t.v though.

Yup just connect it up to the relevant sockets and scroll through TV input signals.I have pc connected up to a 40" 1080P via HDMI and VGA.

It should all just go straight through the hdmi cable. Why would you want two cables from your pc to the telly?? My htpc has an hdmi out and thats the only connection I have to the tv, hdmi is basically dvi with audio so you don't need to connect the vga cable to.
