In need of a little advice so any help would be much appreciated.
I am moving house shortly and it appears that there is no phone socket upstairs, as this is a rented property I have no real desire to start laying cables all round the house. Only phone socket is downstairs in the livingroom. So the query is how do I go about getting the internet to my office which will be based upstairs.
The office set up contains a number of baseunits plus a number of networked printers all running through a netgear prosafe 16 port switch.
Currently I have a Belkin N1 Vision modem router providing internet access directly into the switch via Cat5e. It also supplies access to the 3/4 laptops and a PS3 and a Wii.
So the question is possibly a simple one but I am not overly technical (my brother often uses me as justification for people needing licensed to touch pcs) how do I connect something to the switch and provide access to the office upstairs?
I know it will involve an access point or bridging but most seem to require you to connect the access point to a computer, whereas I want to connect it directly to the switch.
