Connecting Case Wires to MOBO

I think I get it. I took another look at the wires that came with my mobo, it would seem that the 4-pin peripheral cables will be attached to this plug. No? Even though the plugs don't all have 4 pins, is that correct? However, I just tried, and it doesn't fit, and the FAN plug has a female connection, which none of the cables with PSU have for this plug. Still baffled. Each fan has a plug with two sides as well as the plug I connected to the USB fan headers. I take it these are optional. I just don't get what to do with this plug though.

Still sounds like a power pass through
Can you daisy chain the fans?
That is that molex connector goes to psu
First fan plugs into it then second fan plugs into first fan etc

Each fan has two plugs. One with two pins and two dummies and one which connects into the fan header. I did the latter as in the pic below. You can see them both. The bigger connector is too short to connect to anything else. I have three of them, two next to each other at the bottom of the board. The ambiguous plug with "POWER" and "FAN" can reach those other two, but one cannot connect into the other.

Bit peculiar the 2 pin molex wire is so short
2 pins /wires means it's either 5v or 12v
Too early for my brain to figure out
Which not a morning person lol
Ie it can only power 5v or 12v
A normal molex has both 5v and 12v wire
Got to be a reason for it though

Okay, found something interesting. There are options. I have them connected to the mobo, which means the mobo controls the fans. So I don't really need to worry about that other plug.

If I did it another way, like daisy chaining them, I'd be connecting them directly to the PSU, which would mean speed can't be controlled.

I think I am getting this a little better. I do apologise for such a basic problem, this is my first build. I never considered front panel connections etc, and am laughing at this being what has me stumped! Everything else was almost effortless.

I really do appreciate your time and effort. There's no rush this early! :)

I saw A YouTube video where there was a board on the side of the case, internally. That must have been the controller. My case, which is the same as the one in the video, is a bit different inside, with everything coming from the top-front of the case. The fans are not initially connected to anything. No instructions either.

As for results of my connections, I'm waiting for a replacement cable to arrive as mine had the wrong plug (two round pins in mains adaptor). So I can't power the machine just yet. I'm nervous about powering it up until I know I have everything right.

Perhaps there's 2 slightly different versions of the case then
And they just put the same wires in both
Rather than have 2 different versions of the wiring made
That's a pain don't you have anything indoors with a kettle lead you could borrow

If it's what I think it is, it's basically a connector to control a connected fan with the F button on the I/O, you can choose to turn the connected fan on or off.
