Connecting CPU fan to NZXT Grid+

Hey,

I have a 4-pin PWM fan on my CPU cooler, and for some reason it won't go under 1300 rpm using the BIOS controls. It has a nasty whine at this speed! However, if I connect a fan speed adapter between the mobo header and the fan connector, it does go slower (~1000rpm).

I'd like to get an adapter that will split off the rpm monitor lead so I can still connect that to the motherboard, but then connect the other two leads (not the PWM one) to a fan controller like the NZXT Grid+, so I can run the fan well under 1000rpm.

I'm looking for the right kind of splitter, but can't seem to find what I need - could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Cheers,

Su

Why do you need to connect the RPM to the motherboard? Grid+ (well at least the V2) still monitors fan speeds.

Hey,

For some reason I assumed the board wouldn't POST without the CPU fan connected (or maybe sound an alarm of some sort).

Turns out it worked just fine :p

Spinning at 450rpm, and idle temps only 1C higher - perfect!

Cheers,

Su
