Connecting dual monitors.

I ordered a new monitor which arrived today and I'm trying to set up dual monitors.

My GPU has 1 HDMI, 1 DP and 2 DVI. I'm currently using the HDMI to connect my first monitor, what should I use to connect the second?

Thanks.

What monitors do you have?

I use dual DVI on mine as the screens I use are wasted on HDMI (HDMI only goes to 60hz on mine, but DVI enables me to use the 144hz of the monitor).

My maximum is only 60hz. I have just gotten them set up, I'm using HDMI for my main and DVI for my second monitor.

It seems to be working fine so far, however is there anything I require (apps etc..) to enhance them?

This is my first time dual monitoring so I don't really have a clue:D

The only annoyance is that when playing a game on my main monitor and I come to my second for web browsing, the game minimises.

Is there a way to stop this?

Worth bearing in mind that DVI is just video, but HDMI is video AND audio, so if one of your monitors has inbuilt speakers then use the HDMI with that monitor (unless you have a separate sound system or sound card etc.)

I use Overwolf for that - it allows you to browse the interwebs without closing/minimising/blacking-out the main gaming screen. I think you can do other things with Overwolf, but that's what I use it for (it gives in-game FPS count in the top left of your screen too)

Both have built in speakers, however I use a headset the majority of the time so it's not a problem.

About the minimising thing, I noticed that it is because the game is in full screen and that playing in windowed mode stops it. I found a few apps where it enables the auto change of the window size to stop this happening, do you have any idea of which is best to use?

Thanks for the help.

Using Overwolf means your game doesn't need to be windowed. The game runs in full screen, and does not minimise if browsing through Overwolf.

I'm sure there are other applications out there that do the same, but I've only used OW.
