Hi,

I have a bluray player and my laptop, when I want to put things onto the external hdd (permanently connected to bluray player) I currently have to pull the usb cable out and plug into my laptop.

What's the best thing to use to allow me to have both connected at the same time but still be able to transfer files from the laptop onto it. I don't mind not being able to have the bluray player on at the same time. Would it be a usb hub or can you get usb splitter cables?

Dunno. Could be dodgy as you are potentilly connecting 2 outputs together.
Id get 2 usb extension and then plug the device between the 2 as needed. This will save wear and tear on the bluray and pc.

My popcorn a110 can kind of do this as it can act as a usb host as well as a slave. Uou could have the pc talking to the drive via ethernet and the bluray talking via usb. Maybe you can find one online they are now superceded
