HI ALL

i have never bothered with the mic and line out on front of case before but just got a sugo and a gigabyte matx mobo which says it uses the realtek 880 chip

now if i connect the front audio panel headers to the mobo so i can use headphones does the back then become disabled it says there are software settings but do you have to keep switching this

well exact words in manuel are

to enable ac97 audio on front panel connector to support ac97 audio mode go to audio control panel click i/o tab in analoug area click tool icon and then select disable front panel jack detection this action completes ac97 config

what does that mean will the back then become disabled

or will it allow ac97 from front panel and use the 880 chipset to still work the back for my speakers aggggggggggggggh

It should allow both fonrt and back to work, all you can do is try, then if it doesent...revert back :)

Believe so, its probably just the jack detection cannot work if 2 sockets are live.

Well, that shouldnt make too much different, only thing you'd have to do is select something like "Enable AC97 audio to the front panel" :S and yeah thats it...as long as the audio headers are on the right pins on your board it shouldnt matter...No different than plugging a pair of headphones into your speaker in reality.
