I am trying to connect my PC to my TV so I can watch things like iplayer, you tube etc on my TV. Sound is working ok but the picture isn't.

I am using a DVA to HDMI cable and seperate audio cable. When I first boot up the PC everything is ok on the PC monitor and I get to see everything (start up procedures etc) on my TV. The picture I see on the PC monitor and TV are the same.

By the time it comes to clicking on on which user login I want I can only see this option on my monitor not on the TV as well. Then when windows fully loads I can see eveything on my PC but on the TV I am just getting the windows wallpaper with no icons? Also windows on my TV is not fully covering the whole of the TV.

I don't have a camera to take a snapshot of the TV. I have tried playing around with the resolution settings for the gfx card but getting nowhere.

Win XP with SP3
Radeon 9800 XT

Sounds like your using your tv as a extension to your desktop, you should be able to drag a icon over to your tv.

One thing you need to check is the option in the graphics card software to use the tv as the main pc.

The picture need to be adjusted by the overscan feature the ATI software.

I needed to do this with my Plasma running my HTPC.

It's been a long time since I did dual screens on xp.

What you need to do is right click on the desktop and change the display settings (where you adjust screen resolutions etc).

There is an option to extend the display which is what it is doing at the mo. If you drag a box say windowed internet explorer to the edge of the screen if you keep going past the screen it will appear on the tv (will be left or right depending on setup).

Sounds like you want the screens cloned rather than just extended. Hope this helps
