Hey guys, is it possible to connect my PS3 directly into my monitor for usage?

I would prefer not to have another screen as the one I have is very good (Dell U2711 with IPS)

Last I remember I hooked up my ps3 i had no sound.

Has anyone done this? And how did they go about it?

Thanks :)

It should just take an HDMI cable. Not using a console myself I can't verify that, but if there's no sound maybe you used the DVI instead?

Hi there.

Yes - the HDMI cable is the best way to connect it up. The resolution of your monitor (2560x1440) is actually higher than what your PS3 can output (1920x1080), so the monitor has to scale the signal. This will mean that the image will not look quite as good as the same signal running on a similar 1920x1080 monitor - but it should look pretty good (especially considering the PS3 upscales many of the games anyway since they are rendered in sub-1080p res).

As for sound - the monitor doesn't have any speakers. The best solution is to hook some stereo speakers into the Audio-out plug (green 3.5mm stereo connection) on the monitor.
