I'm planning to get a nice new TV (probably a 720p one) and build an HTPC to go with it next month. Yes, I know how it can be done, but will I run into any trouble with using the TV like a normal one as well, ie with a freeview box and other such things plugged in at the same time?

The most advanced I've ever got with TV/PC shennanigans is using an s-video to SCART adaptor in my old flat.

i used to have my htpc/light gaming rig linked to my 28" 1080p but it only played at 1028X768 [which was a bit rubbish
i also got a lot of cut off on the edges and always spent lots of time adjusting aspect ratios

its not worth the bother if the connection is analogue [which mine had to be because my other inputs are used by 3 consoles and a home cinema]
make sure you link it to dvi/hdmi etc and it should eliminate all problems

what output/input does your tv/pc have?
