Howdy,

I fancy buying a X-Box360. I was wondering, assuming I'm buying the 360 Elite Console, what additional hardware would I need for my PC?

I'm already using a Linksys AM200 ADSL2+ Modem to connect my PC to the internet but also have a Linksys AG241 ADSL2+ Modem/Router lying around also. I assume for the use of connecting to X-Box live, I'll need a wireless router of some sort?

I really don't know anything about X-Box connecting to the net I'm afraid...so any information would be enlightening :)

Thanks muchly

You'll need the official wireless adapter for the xbox.

er only if the OP wants to connect Wirelessly, they could just plug the 360 directly into the Router with a RJ-45 ;)
And you don't have to use the official wireless adapter, you can use any wireless bridge but it does take a little bit more setting-up.

Well, you will know whether you want to go wired or wireless, and therefore you either need the official wireless adapter for the xbox circa £50~ or a network cable that can reach to your router.

Didn't know the elite came with the wireless adpater!
Any wireless router will do. That you have linked to is for a PC to connect to a wireless router! (Essential the same thing as the Xbox Wireless Adapter)

I dont think you can get Xbox Live in Scotland?! I think Microsoft put a junction banning it because of all the Scottish people annoying people over Live with their accent :p

Ah I see, is that the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter right? I'll still need a Wireless hub for my PC?

all you need is the xbox, the wireless adapter for the xbox and either a wireless modem/router or just a wireless access point.

I assume your PC is currently connected via an ethernet cable to that Linksys AM200 ADSL2+ you have, if you got a new wireless modem/router you can swap it with your current Linksys and still have your PC connected with an ethernet cable like you do now (wireless routers usually come with 4 wired ports) and just connect the 360 with wireless.

If you got an wireless access point you'd just need to plug the wired end into your Linksys AM200 ADSL2+ and then connect the 360 with the wireless (you may need to alter some settings on the access point and/or router for it to work)
