I bought a wireless xbox 360 receiver last week so I can enjoy games such as f1 2011, dirt 3 and batman without being limited to playing on my console.

but I can't get the damn thing to work. i've tried using the drivers off the cd, and downloading some off the microsoft website.

I read I have to press the button on the receiver at the same time as the controller, which is what you do when syncing to an xbox as well so it makes sense, but it just won't happen! Tried with 2 different controllers now and I'm getting annoyed!

so if anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated

The light on the receiver is on? It should always be on even if you are not using the pad. If that is on sorry I have no idea, I just held the button in on the reciever and then pressed the button on the pad.

Cheers

Well I guess thats the issue then sir, soon as you plug it in the light needs to stay on. It stays on no matter what. So first step is to get that damn light to stay on, has to be some kind of driver issue.

I never used the driver disc with mine (got it from here on overclockers) I just plugged it in and let win 7 64bit grab the driver for me.

Sorry I can't help no more, but at least you know now that the light does need to be on constant, well mine does anyway :)

May I suggest you try another USB port, mine is connected direct to PC and not via my hub.

According to microsoft syncing re-syncing a wireless controller

  • Press the small button on the front of the Xbox Controller and one on top of the actual USB receiver at the same time
This will form a "relationship" or "pairing" between the controller and reciever. You will need to carry out the re-syncing process each time your switch between using the controller on the Xbox 360 or the PC.

To disconnect the Xbox 360 Controller, disconnect the USB connector from the computer. Make sure that you pull the USB connector, not the cable.
