I didnt know what forum part this should go in at it could go in console, games or hardware so please move to where it needs to be :)

I aquired an Xbox but have no tv and no games to test it, can I get a lead to connect it to my computer screen and amp and if so where and how much?

I've tried it on a tv but not sure if it needs to be tuned and and have a game in it to work. So today im buying a cheapo pre-owned game

I'd have put it in Home Cinema.

Shouldn't have to have a game in for it to work, none of the consoles I've had have needed it. Of course, it might not show up any problems if it doesn't have a game in. Does no-one you know have a game you could borrow?

You won't be able to plug it in to your computer screen unless your screen has composite input. If you want to use your VGA socket, you will need to buy an Xbox-VGA convertor thingy.

I think its the Xbox-VGA converter i need then. Gilly, the only mate i knew with an x-box sold the complete package when he got a 360. Everyone else has PS2 or before that. pre-owned wont be much more than £5 anyway, if that (maybe)

Ah, it's a Neoya HD Xbox Adaptor. Allows you to plug a monitor directly into your Xbox and output in hi-def (which a lot of people don't realise the original xbox can output)... it maybe a bit overkill but if you think about it, the only other simple way is to buy a TV card (which may easily cost more than this adaptor) and suffer with a poor composite signal.

With this you can output a progressive signal over vga. If you need info, do a search on google for an x2vga+ (not the x2vga2)

What is the difference between the two?

The X2VGA2 doesn't connect directly to the XBOX, instead you first connect an xbox component cable to the xbox which in turn connects to the adaptor and then you connect your monitor into this. The X2VGA2 seems to have been developed so you can use a multitude of different consoles but IMO it's more hassle.

The x2vga+ plugs directly into the xbox av socket. Also, for those that want to share the monitor with a PC, hass pass through connectors for ease of use.

Neoya is a quality device, had two of these connected to my old TFTs way back in the multimonitor days and when having friends round to enjoy the benifits of home lans free beers and food seemed like a good idea.

Bought on your very recommendation ;)

Just to confirm you understand

It allows supporting games in 720p and 1080i to work in those resolutions but youll find very few that are worth exploiting for this.

However the benifit is actually that the games will run (95% UK-PAL) in Progressive Scan which makes all the difference for a better sharper image.

Aboslutely. Most, if not all of my games, run in 480p. Which gives quite a crisp picture, much better than if one was to connect their xbox via composite through a TV card. Only game I've played in 720p was MX vs. ATV... it looked stunning. Shame about the game though :p

mikol didn't you say you had a spare one lying around you'd be willing to let go for a small fee? :p

also would my 17" samsung SM710n tft be compatible?

Ha, if you have access to members market - it's in there... do a search for Neoya. I used mine on my Samsung 181T.

Ah right! Didn't notice. Well, it's the Neoya X2VGA+ (plenty of info available online)... I'll send you an email as I'm not allowed to sell outside MM.
