Connection constantly dropping

For the last few weeks my connection has been dropping out a lot more than it ever has. It always seems to happen around evening time but has also happened at other times of the day. It'll play up for a variable amount of time and then suddenly everything will be back to normal again which leads me to believe it's the ISP. This has only happened recently as it has been fine for months. It has happened once before in the past when the connection just went to the dogs all of a sudden.

Code:
DSL Status
			DSL Status: UP
DSL Modulation Mode: G.992.1 (G.DMT)
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 1984 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 896 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 2 db
Upstream Margin: 11 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 45
Upstream Line Attenuation: 59
Downstream Transmit Power: 15
Upstream Transmit Power: 11
LOS Errors: 0

PVC Connection
			PVC Status: UP
Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA
Multiplexing: VC
Autodetect: Disable
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

That's the status page from the modem which is a AM200. The line stats are really poor but it's always been like that even before the problems. The ISP is Pipex (TalkTalk). I've done the usually and checked to make sure all filters are OK and the modem is plugged into the master socket.

Also, it sometimes will not pickup a gateway when connecting and the stats will show something like this:

Code:
PPP Login: Up
Internet IP Address:	81.178.129.16
Internet Netmask:	255.0.0.0
Internet Gateway:	0.0.0.0

Which requires a modem reboot to correct.

EDIT: Another thing that seems to happen. Right now it has stopped dropping but certain sites are no longer accessible or very slow. The OCUK forums on the other hand aren't too bad and still quite fast. Gaming still seems fine with latency around ~40ms.

Your speed is too high for the low noise margin, so you're dropping a lot of information and causing traffic or requests to time out.

Does that modem connect directly to your PC or to a router? and is it turned off with the PC or left on?

ADSL is designed to be left connected as it naturally stabilizes itself to an appropriate SNR. Which in your case would be around 6dB. What usually happens is when you first connect your modem it'll connect as fast as it can, then if the SNR drops too low and it disconnects it'll re-sync slightly slower until the SNR hits target and it stops disconnecting.
Switching the modem off regularly can sometimes cause havoc with this process and result in an unstable line.
