Connection issues

Hi, typing this on iPad so forgive me for any mistakes.

I was noticing high pings the other day in bf3 so I rebooted my router and modem. Ever since the reboot I cannot get online properly. It seems to come on for a min or so then cut off again. I don't think the router is the problem as all my devices can see the router.

On the modem it's self the LAN and Internet lights are usually off apart from those brief occurrences when I do get a connection. I can't get into the modem because it says I need an Internet connection so again only getting in briefly so can't properly troubleshoot (which for me consists of just changing stuff till it works cause I know sod all about networking really).

I think it's curious this only became an issue after I rebooted but the fact my pings where high could suggest a more serious issue?

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
 
You may be able to access the management interface of the Vigor if you remove the router from the equation. It might require a reset to factory defaults.

Do you have a spare ADSL router, maybe the one AOL provided?
 
I thought the same but it still wouldnt let me on. I am on it the now actually, I got an hour of out it last night on my ipad. Since getting in from work its dropped connection once. All the lights are flashing except the LAN light goes dark when it drops.

I can get in just now, any idea what exactly I should be looking at?

And yeah I found my old router AOL supplied, I think it too is broken which was why I replaced it, will have a go at setting that up.
