Doubt its a virus on a new install.

Do you have all the updates from Microsoft Update site?

Merged your two threads - it's easier for everyone if you keep it all together...

What are you trying to connect the machine to (router, modem, what) and what with? How do you know it's "going on and off"?
Who's your ISP?
What do you think you'll need to configure?
The output from start, run, cmd, ipconfig /all would be useful (you don't need to screenshot either, right click and select Mark, select what you want then press enter, then paste).

Need much more information before anyone can even think of helping.

Make sure your network card's working then - Control Panel -> Network Connections, is there a "Local Area Connection" entry in there?
The output from ipconfig /all should look like this:
Code:

        WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 1:

The Belkin software's irrelevant, it won't affect the output from ipconfig. What card is it?

Is there anything in there (rather than just a Local Area Connection), bar perhaps a "1394 Connection"?

just the two that are normally thier and also one called MAC bridge or something?

It says my internet stick is not enabled but when i enable it it says connection failed within seconds.

lol internet stick, made me laugh

assuming your router is the same as mine (i have sky too), tried going to 192.168.0.1? (the routers config page), if that doesnt work then theres something wrong with the network connection.

is your network adapter installed? go into device manager, then check for unknown devices and for yellow question marks in the network adapter section, if the network adapter doesnt show up or has errors, download the latest driver for it (use a cd or something to transfer over) and install it. also in network connections there should be a connection called "local area connection"

if by "Internet stick" you mean wireless, if you have a pc with an ethernet port with the drivers for it properly configured, make sure the settings you are trying to connect wirelessly with are the same as the ones on the router (with the router from sky, you have to goto 192.168.0.1, then put admin as the username and sky as the password unless its changed.)
