Connection problems, does this look healthy?

I've got Plusnet with a Netgear DG834G router. Has been playing up recently and I keep losing my connection. Plusnet want to send a BT engineer round but have been reminding me that if it's my hardware I will be charged £60. The usual story! Haven't got hold of another router to test yet so whilst I do, how do these stats look?

This is what Plusnet posted after their testing:
Interleaved: WBC 4M - 9M Low delay (INP 0) 6dB Downstream, 448 Medium delay (INP 2) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)

xDSL:
Upstream DSL Link Information ---- Downstream DSL Link Information
Loop Loss: 6.5 ------------------------------- 16.5
SNR Margin: 31 ------------------------------- 24
Errored Seconds: 0 ------------------------------- 0
HEC Errors: 0
Cell Count: 9540 ------------------------------- 4770
Speed: 440 ------------------------------- 9727

CLT: Pass

Errors: ILQ R/A or C

RADIUS:
Summary: Enhanced TAM pass. Raising to BT. Would strongly recommend testing with alternative hardware.

And this is what my router (currently connected) is saying:

Oh, and they've already turned interleaving on.. is that a good thing?

Thanks for any pointers! :)

Your Downstream Noise margin looks like it's set high to help reduce the number of dropouts. Your overall connection speed is compromised because of your high Noise margin. You should hit 20+Mbit on a shortish line like that.

It's difficult to tell what the problem is though. How often does the connection fail? Have you tried plugging into the test socket?

Is there any noise on the line? Try plugging a corded phone directly to the test socket and listen for crackles and pops. Also check this when the line drops out. It's possible I suppose that your router is causing a problem on the line but it's more likely to be your internal wiring or the loop from the exchange. Why not grab or borrow another ADSL2+ router and check for the same issues. It'll probably work out cheaper than paying BTs line fix charge.

You should be able to telnet into that router and get detailed adsl stats that might be more helpful.

Thanks guys. Our connection has been rock solid for ~2yrs until last Thursday when it started dropping out. It drops out maybe once an hour or so? To be honest I'm not a heavy user but browsing from my phone it seems to drop a few times in an evening. Hmn. Makes me think it's not my end though.

If it is my end I'm sure it's not the router, and is probably the mental wiring in our flat. It's a converted Victorian house (2 bed flat) and there's literally 7 phone sockets throughout it. There's 5 in our lounge! When we first moved in we couldn't find a master socket, and when we got our phoneline connected we could only find the one socket that worked, but it doesn't look like a master/test socket  That really is the only socket that worked though.

As for noise on the phoneline, nope there isn't any. I'll try to remember to check when it next drops out.

I'm going to try and get hold of another router to test, but in the meantime does anyone have any guides on how to get more stats out of our router via telnet?

Thanks!

/runs off to google...

EDIT: Not sure if this will mean anything to anyone...
