Connection speeds?!

i had my 100mb virgin connected on thursday. couple of speed tests returned the correct values.
However i've now run several tests via speedtest and i get conflicting result and am wondering why.

Basically wirelessly via my mac i see between 50 & 60mbps. not bad for wireless.

Via ethernet (direct from router) into mac i get between 90 & 105mb. great!

Yet on my PC (via powerline) i only see a maximum of 65mbps!.

is this because my powerlines have a connection of 10/100 ports and not gigabit ports?

Not sure on the wire as before Thursday I was on 50mb and was always getting 50mb constant

Are you using a 200mbps powerline kit?

yeah i am. i could have sworn i hit 100mb on one of my tests. but after reading your questions i then questioned it myself!!!

having read a bit more on powerline adapters. It appears the 200mbps speed is based on a two way flow. 100 up and 100 down. so given noise margin etc it would seem right that i would only get 60 - 70mbps through them. Add to that the 10/100 ethernet connection.

So i think some 500mbps gigabit connection adapters are required.

i do on my pc as this is the main source for downloads.
