CONROE BUSTED !!!

if this is what i think it is, it was posted bakc in april, and was realised to be a load of tosh then.

Just look at the performance of the core 2 duo chips, the performance claims are not false at all.

I think all the curent evidence shows that Conroe is the better architecture.

Maybe not as amazing as some people are making out, but its currently the best on the market today.

The conroe beats an FX 62 at 2.4ghz and an FX 62 can be clocked to around 3.1ghz.

The conroes can be clocked well higher than that.

And quite simple my conroe running at 3.8ghz really is that good,Really is that fast, and flattens the opty 170 @ 2.8ghz It replaced.

They appear to whip AMD's bum when it comes to encoding etc,

But like some people on here, i'm not spending £500 on something thats going to give me 10 More frames per second in battlefield 2.

My X2 4400 @ 2805 is fast enough at the moment.

Eh?

The 6300 costs 125 quid clocks to 3.4ghz with ease nuff said.

However if your rig is fast enough for your needs, thats fine

Some however just want more speed. :D

then the motherboard, then the ram ect ect.

it would cost me £250 to upgrade to a bottom of the line allendale. I will be upgrading, but not yet. believe me, i want that encoding power.

The 6300 Is an Amazing chip, im not saying it isn't :)

I was just trying to say that the Conroe chip doesn't spank AMD Chips in some games,

In CPU Limited games it does though, Please correct me if im wrong :)

I do dream though, about how quick the conroe chip could load me into a new map on Battlefield 2, Thats with my two raptors in raid 0 ( I know i need to get out more :p )

This article was posted quite a few places a couple of months back. The writer is a known AMD fanboy, if you look at his other articles you'll notice they're extremely AMD biased. In everything he writes on that site, his claims range from slightly embellished fact to blatant untruths.

It's really quite safe to disregard it completely. :)

I wouldnt say its easy - I can only just get to 3.2GHz (which is still very impressive) but I personally dont think my cpu has much headroom left even with better ram / better mobo

3.2ghz! That's fantastic though, for a £160 processor...

They can't all clock like that though, mine doesn't for instance, but then coming from a P4 2.8 to a D805 to now my E6300, I've tasted the performance that a lot of AMD folks had been enjoying for years!

I don't know, some people want the moon on a stick!! ;)

I`d like to put it this way. If i was to build a pc from scratch, for a home pc it would be a Core 2 Duo system. Nothink else matters.

So would i, But upgrading from AMD to Intel just for gaming, isn't realy worth it at the moment with todays games.

Or atleast thats the way i see it.. :)

I was'nt going to upgrade from my AMD shuttle setup for the next 2 years but as i got a good offer for it i upgraded to a midi tower based INTEL conroe system. :p

I've got more faith in these sorts of reviews to be honest. For someone to have given up an Opteron at 2.8Ghz and be very impressed with what they replaced it with speaks volumes.

Do you not intend to use the WiFi AP and NICs on the P5W-DH then?
