Im saying that a conroe that costs 125 quid can spank an FX 62 with a small overclock.

All will do 3ghz with the right mobo.

Indeed it can. A lot of the 3800+ can clock higher than the FX62 on air as well, though not as easily i grant you.
I was just taking issue with your figure of 3.4ghz with ease. A lot of the ES seemed too but the retails don't.
"3ghz with the right mobo" is not quite "3.4ghz with ease" that is all i am saying.

I agree completely with both your points - it really bugs me when everyone insists on comparng a cheap chip to the most expensive when its well known the opposing cheap chip can get to as high a clock speed.

I personally think most retail 6300's can get to 3.1 - 3.2GHz on reasonable air coolers (or should that be under) but thats about the limit. Still a 50% clock anyway and phenomenal for that figure alone

Will be interesting to find out if different mobo's really do make that much difference

conroe is the better CPU on the market now, but its very very hyped up, too much IMO, and before someone says 'conroe is sooo much faster than my old system' get a grip and think logically. example 'my pentium 166 is faster than your commadore', another 'my PS2 is SOOO much faster than my PS1' how often do you see new technology that doesn't improve on past technologies, its a new CPU with totally new architecture and intel not talking out there arses so much for once in there existance, still doesn't change the fact that it'll be obselete in a very short time, just like everything else..
