Conroe CPU Idle temp = 54 degrees ??

could be a dodgy motherboard sensor. because if it hasnt been overclocked yet it does seem to high
 
Just reset my heatsink using some arctic silver, i dont think i set the heatsink on right in the first place, i didnt turn those lugs around clockwise to tighten them
 
lol u're meant to turn them!? :|

i just got my conroe today its idling at 30-35 atm.

i think i'll try and tighten them a little later :)
 
As far as I know, you only need to make sure the plastic mounts are as far as they can be turned clockwise. Then simply push them into the board until you hear a click. You only need to turn them counter clockwise when you wish to remove the heatsink from the board.
 
just reset it again, 40 degrees whilst just surfing etc

i didnt hear any clicks after the first time though, i pressed pretty hard
