I thought the Core 2 Duo chips were comming out in July ?
 
Maybe they are referring to when the CPU's will be readily available to the public to buy as opposed to being released for OEM's like Dell & HP.

Lots of speculation as to whether there will actually be any Conroes left to buy once Dell and HP etc have their share.

i think intel will know that it is their best interrests to keep their biggest CPU lauch in 4 years well stocked i think they will be doing their best to ensure that stocks do not run out, Conroe will be out on public release in July.... well thats what intel say and what i hope seeing as i want one!!! :D
 
The conroes use the LGA775 base for mobos dont they?

I know not exactly, because they use a new version with upped voltages or something...but Im looking to upgrade to conroe, and Im just wonder whether a normal Skt775 waterblock will fit ok?

I'm not entirely familair with all of tweaktowns benchmarks, but it would have bee better to bench an Intel and AMD machine with the same amount of RAM. Both Intel machines have 2GB, the AMD kit only has 1GB....

there are a set of modded drivers that allow sli on the -ydg and bad axe
amongst others, there was a small section on xs about it.

Would the 165 still be old tech if the Conroe was a pile of Dung ? the opty is still a good chip and the current pricing doesn,t suggest its old tech.

dont be daft, if the conroe was pants then it would still be old tech V new tech but it would have the double insult of not only being a pointless comparison but also showing that old tech beat it anyway.

opty 165 is an old chip, AMD`s new lines that are able to properly use DDR2 and a load of other AM2 features wont be out till at least august / september, and untill then every AMD chip is going to be nothing more than a ported 939 CPU. use your common sense.

if you want to start running proper comparisons, wait till both manufacturers have their new designs out there and not just stop gap measures like AMD`s new orleans Core or an older Sandiego opty 165 being pitted against conroe, its a waste of time and web space.
