i,m ready to get a conroe , i just unsure on which one to get of the e6600 or e6700?

is it worth the extra £148 pound to get the 6700?

i dont overclock and i mostly be using the rig for programming and gaming @16*10 res.

this include the asus p965 and x1900xt.

help me decide people

thanks

hi

thanks for the feedback

well your paying that for an extra 200mhz, i had my on the 6600 for a hile now, i currently have the amd x2 4400 s939 and thats going to a friend, would there be a significant difference do you reckon in gaming and business application?

i think i read somewhere the MS products are some how optimised for intel processors and i do a fair bit of dvd encoding which i think it may help there

E6700 can overclock 400 to 500Mhz higher than the E6600 which is quite a bit really but the E6600 is better value for money.

hi

i dont really plan to overclock i think e6600 is aimed at mainstream users the ones that dont clock.

in games it doesnt do as good as e6700 @ stock i think anyone confirm please

i dont see how a E6700 would make much difference between the E6600, same cache but just a bit faster .. you wouldnt notice the difference in games mate

hi

i think you may be right , it wouldnt be a huge jump well not for £148 worth could go somewhere else?

off the subject i was thinking about this ram to go with it but the timings seems a bit loose for my liking , i,m used to very tight amd ddr timings, any quick comment on this please>

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBNR) (MY-014-GS)

with the new asus p965 version

thanks

as far as im aware the memory timings dont matter on the Core Duo's (correct me if im wrong), they only matter on AMD platforms, if i were you i would get the HZ stuff mate as its much faster and if you plan to overclock then you will love em, i plan to get em with my conroe setup soon

Its exactly the opposite.

The E6600 is the slowest cpu in the range that has the full 4mb cache.

Clockers want them ! :D

hi

thanks for the feedback, i dont plan to overclock and do you mean these

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS)

whats the benefit to have these if you dont overclock?

thanks

none,

just get DDR2 667 instead.

hi easyrider

i was just saying , i,m sooure overclockers would love these and they are good for their cash.

it dont think the e6700 is for me is just a tad a bit expensive, but i do want decent ram to go with it.

@ easyrider

the 667 are bit slower and more expensive. these are G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBNR) (MY-014-GS) faster and cheaper.

what do you think of these?

Just get E6600
and some DDR 2 667mhz like the G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5400 or the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2

The geil is 117 quid!

You dont need 6400 really unless you want to up the FSB:)

ok well do easyrider

i see you got the asus 975x board, i,m getting the 965 p5b deluxe, any opionions on this?

i am

not an overclocker or sli person?

i know the 975 clocks better and sli or crossfire ready as well

Not sure TBH on that one.

Don't have one and not sure what bios it ships with. :p

I would have thought it will be ok though.
